"Home is a feeling"

Images are key elements when striving to give your home a unique look that captivates. They tell a story and evoke a feeling you can make your own, all while allowing you to express your unique personality, tastes, and dreams.

Designers understand this well and adopt it to create environments into which you are instantly transported.

ABOUT THE FLOOD OF THE SEINE:

The flood of the Seine in 1910 is one of the most famous and devastating floods in Paris’s history.

Description of the 1910 Flood

In January 1910, after weeks of relentless rain, the Seine's water level in Paris rose dramatically, reaching 8.62 meters above its normal level on January 28. This surge caused a major flood, inundating much of the French capital.

Impact on Paris

Infrastructure: The floods caused significant damage to infrastructure. Streets, subways, and sewers were flooded, paralyzing the city. Bridges were damaged, and some neighborhoods were cut off from the rest of the city.

Housing: Thousands of people were evacuated from their flooded homes. Residents used boats to navigate the streets, which had turned into canals.

Transportation: Public transport, including trams and subways, was severely disrupted. Gare Saint-Lazare, one of Paris’s main train stations, was submerged.

Response and Relief

Municipal and national authorities, along with citizens, worked together to rescue affected individuals and minimize damage. The military was mobilized to assist with evacuations and relief operations. Firefighters and health services also played a crucial role.

Legacy and Commemoration

The 1910 flood remains a significant event in Paris’s collective memory. It led to substantial improvements in water management systems and flood prevention measures in Paris. Exhibitions and commemorative plaques around the city recall this event.

In summary, the flood of the Seine in 1910 is a major historical event that marked Paris and its inhabitants. It highlighted the challenges of natural disasters in large cities and prompted measures to better protect the French capital in the future.
