How about practicing gratitude for winter?

This frosty weather, despite the frostbite, offers us dozens of little joys that the inhabitants of Bora Bora will never taste. Think in particular of the flavor of cinnamon, soups and other soups, moments of relaxation in the bath, large woolen sweaters.

Yes the winter is harsh; sometimes our houses creak everywhere, the pipes freeze and the winds are so strong that they cause major breakdowns. But, despite all these inconveniences, if we open our eyes, there is magic. The one that gives us moments of contemplation in front of the falling snow, in front of the frost on the windows, in front of the candlelight and the comfort of the home. In short, this season gives us all the right excuses to slow down the pace, whether through a reading cure or long mornings glued under the covers.

What if we tried to cultivate joy? We were looking for it, we were creating it. I bet we'd find her, she's never far away ;) Are you game? And precisely… in the “little pleasures” category, here is my favorite hot chocolate recipe. Try this, I promise you a moment of happiness and a taste of velvet ;)

MY FAVORITE HOT CHOCOLATE RECIPE.
This is a classic homemade hot chocolate, very simple, yet incredibly delicious and satisfying! The recipe is for 4 servings, since everyone is sure to want some.

INGREDIENTS

.

- 3 cups (750ml) cold vegetable milk, or milk of your choice
- 1 cup (250ml) 15% cream
- 2 tbsp of sugar
- 1/4 cup of cocoa
- 1 C. 1/2 tsp (5ml) vanilla extract
- 1 C. cinnamon, or cardamom or nutmeg (to taste)
- A pinch of salt

Trick:

We know that children love sugar, but it's not just sugar that gives flavor. By adding vanilla, spices such as cinnamon, cardamom or nutmeg you will prevent low sugar recipes from also being low in taste. However, it takes a minimum to cut the bitterness of the cocoa.

STEPS

1. In a saucepan, bring to a simmer over medium heat 2 1/2 cups (625ml) of milk and 3/4 cup (180ml) of 35% cream, stirring often.
2. Meanwhile, in a bowl, whisk together the sugar, cocoa and salt. Whisk in the last 1/2 cup (125ml) of milk and vanilla extract to form a smooth batter.
3. Reduce heat to medium-low and gradually whisk in cocoa mixture to hot milk. Mix well and continue to heat for about 2 minutes, or until the mixture is steaming.
4. In a small chilled bowl using a whisk or an electric mixer, whip the rest of the 35% cream to thicken it.
5. Using a ladle, pour the hot chocolate mixture into 4 warmed mugs. Spoon the whipped cream into each cup and swirl the cream while stirring.

6. Serve and enjoy!

A RESERVE LIKE A SELF-CARE KIT

Here, as the recipe is for four people, we make reserves. Then as the children love it, I use it a bit like a "self-care kit" that I keep preciously in my weck juice bottle.

Because we are not the only ones to experience strong emotions, to be exhausted, stressed, to need moments of calm, connection and joy, We take the opportunity, often in the afternoon to take a break, talk and taste and then return to our individual activities with a full heart and a lighter head.

A very simple moment, which sometimes makes the difference in our days.

And since the sugar has been halved from the original recipe (see tip above) it's still an excellent source of calcium and vitamin D. I don't mind giving it to children.

A big winner!

Need to make a self-care kit?

MARSEILLE SOAP
The reputation of Marseille soap (made with 72% olive oil) is well established, it is probably the most popular of all the soaps in the world. Extra pure and biodegradable, it has been made the old-fashioned way by hand, in a cauldron, for hundreds of years. There are endless recipes on the web for natural cleansers based on this soap, as much for laundry, home, shaving, etc!

Without palm oil, without animal fat, without perfume, without dye. What else do you want?

For the recipe, it is important to use a real Marseille soap, because regular soaps (with added glycerin) will not allow your laundry to remain liquid.

LITTLE TIP: Shake well before each use and enjoy the happiness of a homemade product, made with love! Looking forward to hearing your impressions :)
